Derek had reached out to me about planning his surprise proposal and wanted to do something special for his longtime girlfriend! We talked about a lot of different ideas & then settled on capturing the surprise & then going on an adventure session on Maui’s West Side. I quickly recommended that he get reservations at Merriman’s Restaurant & luckily he was able to get a table & reservation made. Him getting reservations at this amazing restaurant sort of dictated that we would finish on the rocks in front of the restaurant!
We communicated mostly by text & a few(calls), but were able to get all the details nailed down & the day finally comes & I am positioned in the perfect spot. Katrina was completely unsuspecting & they got out of their car & he positioned her exactly in the right spot, dropped to a knee with a ring in hand & popped the question. She was completely surprised & you can see the moment when she realizes that I am photographing the important moments. Afterwards we explored this gorgeous tropical forest then raced to get to the rocks in front of the restaurant for a terrific sunset. And let me say that the sunset did not disappoint! Was so much fun creating these images with these two lovers. After we finished he whisked her up to Merrimans for a romantic dinner spiced up with the huge diamond he gave her & the sound of breaking waves!

Jim reached out to me about planning his surprise proposal at the beautiful Four Seasons Lanai on the island of Lanai. We communicated mostly by text &(calls), but were able to get all the details nailed down & the day finally comes & I am positioned in the bushes high above where him and his long time girl friend Hannah are casually checking out the property. Exactly in the right spot, he dropped to a knee with a ring in hand & popped the question. She was completely surprised & you can see the moment when she realizes that I am photographing the important moments up in the bushes.
