Kukahiko Estate Colorful & Emotional Nuptials
Jill & Patrick met here on Maui, both having moved for job opportunities.
One lovely night out with girlfriends, Jill met the man of her dreams. They hit it off right away and a few months later were off to the see his family for the Holidays. Her Mom always said that when she would find the perfect man that he would treat her like a queen. Boy was she right!
Patrick and Jill celebrate their month-a-versary every 11th of each month. With little surprise’s of chocolate and sweet little notes. It was the Christmas of 2012 when Patrick asked Jill’s Dad for Jill’s hand in marriage. This was the sweet little secret her parents and Patrick held on to for the special day. Back on Maui, January 11th (the date of their “monthly-a-versaries) they had planned chocolate and champagne at wedding beach for sunset. It was then Patrick surprised her with a hand written note in the sand saying “Will you Marry me”? She was so shocked and excited, and of course without a doubt said: YES! What a perfect moment with Wedding beach, also called Makena Cove, to themselves and the most gorgeous sunset. Patrick surprised her with dinner plans and a romantic hotel suite.
They set the date for November 16th, 2013 and started planning their dream wedding. They decided on a small venue at the gorgeous Kukahiko Estate in Makena. With almost 70 family members flying out from the mainland, they knew it was going to be very special! They hired Maui Event Planning (Rachael, Chelsea and Wendy), who all helped make their dream wedding come true! Rachael and her team provided them with a list of vendors to choose from, and decided their vendors based on their personalities, professionalism and of course creativity.
They really wanted a beach theme since they met on Maui and love the beach so much.
Patrick helped sand down a surfboard and they turned it into the welcome sign near the entrance to the grounds. Jill made her table centerpieces with sand from their favorite beach, where Patrick had proposed, also adding starfish and shells. Their guests were greeted with hand made flower leis for the ladies and kukui nut leis for the men. Bella Grace Flowers did a wonderful job with their bouquets, boutonnieres, table arrangements, Jill’s haku and Patrick’s maile lei. The chuppah was decorated with long hanging orchids also made by Bella Grace Flowers. Patrick and Jill decided to do a non-traditional cake so they chose tiered bride and groom cake pops with a giant cupcake on the top. Their cake pops were made by Cake Pops by Liz. For their dinner service, Marcie and her team from Café O Lei, cooked the steak, chicken and fish to perfection. Stacey’s from “Bars Are Us” served the drinks, and helped kick off the reception with a champagne toast. Dan Sanchez did Jill’s hair, which consisted of pretty curls and a beautiful haku made by Bella Grace. Jill was so grateful to have had Shannon Flower there from Cos Bar who did her flawless make-up. DJ Del Sol did a perfect job of playing the music for the processional and getting the party started at the reception. Their was Reverend Pia Aluli, who always speaks from the heart & says the most perfect words! Jill says: “When you are around Pia it feels like you have known him forever”.
Also from Jill to us: “Tad Craig of Tad Craig Photography, was full of positive energy, outgoing and a blast to work with! He really knows how to capture the moment & his assistant, Marie-Claude is also a joy to work with.”
Was a terrific wedding & evening highlighting the union between two friends & lovers! Was just about perfect!
