Christina and Glen had such an amazing wedding day on Maui’s West Side at The Westin Resort and Spa Maui! Having dated for five years while he served in the military, it was most appropriate that they marry on Memorial Day! While serving overseas, Glenn was stationed in Italy. Knowing it was very romantic, he flew Christina there and completely surprised her by proposing. Of course, she said YES! Now they are in Maui, with their family and friends by their sides, saying their “I Do’s,” right next to the white sandy beach of Kaanapali! The day was absolutely perfect with the sun shining brightly on their new life together. Both of them were glowing as they took in the day & realized their dreams of marrying each other had finally come true! Thank you for your service to our country as we are all grateful for the sacrifice you and all of your comrades have done for our country! Also thank you for making Tad Craig Photography part of your Maui Memories! Thanks to Sarah of The Westin Resort and Spa Maui for coordinating this fine wedding to perfection! Also Heather of Westin Heavenly Spa took care of her hair & makeup! Alesana was their minister & Asa Flowers made all the stunning flower décor & her bouquet! Aslo a shout out to Kristine Snyder on harp & behind the video camera, All time media! #weddingwire, #westin, #westinmauiresort ##maui #mauiweddingphotographer #mauiwedding #memorialdaywedding #alltimemedia # asaflowers
I was on Maui’s North West Side walking down the boardwalk realizing that not only was it a beautiful day, but it was WINDY! I mean the sky was blue-blue and with exception of a few clouds, it was a stunning day! On this day, working with the bright sun & wind was the name of the game. From a distance, I saw the bride’s long veil & knew it was going to be especially cool flying in the breeze!
Austin and his beautiful bride were married by their close friend. She became a minister recognized by the state of Hawaii just for the occasion! It was a short ceremony and with a kiss on the lips it was official! Of course we had to do all the obligatory family photos, but as soon as we were done Asya & Austin insisted that we go up onto the cool lava formation at the end of the beach! Of course I was so excited as I knew there was some exceptional photo potential up there and I was not wrong! The crazy wind blowing her veil, tugging on her head made her laugh constantly. Loved her attitude! Austin, looking ever dapper in his grey suit was such a romantic. Totally unscripted he held her hand, looked in her eyes, casually dropped down low kissing her hand soaking in the moment! Just perfect! I couldn’t have asked for a better moment! Asya’s veil had a mind of its own during this entire lava rock adventure, sometimes whipping high into the air or completely horizontal! It made for super cool pics!
On this particular wedding I had split coverage later in the afternoon at The beautiful Hyatt Resort and Spa Maui! Of course this is such a beautiful hotel with amazing views and magic spots for creating images all around. Meeting them in the lobby of the hotel, we set off to find those magic spot & did we ever find some magic! Out on the bridge near the koi pond, the sun was peeking through the palm trees creating some backlit dreaminess as Austin continued to work his charm on his new wife. Of course the wind, which was much less by then, was still whipping her huge veil around & of course Asya continued to laugh in amusement! Perhaps my favorite pictures of this entire lot are the ones where they are in front of the bougainvillea. I Love the tenderness they show in those images! As we arrived at the reception location, just yards from the Pacific Ocean, they were greeted by their family & friends all wanting selfies with the happy couple! Later they ate cake and danced with giant smiles on their faces, laughing amongst their friends & family. What a terrific celebration of the love these two had!
Joining the Maui Wedding Association aboard the Trilogy!
This past Saturday, the Maui Wedding Association held their monthly meeting aboard the Trilogy, a 64ft sailing catamaran! It was such a great time. The crew of the Trilogy welcomed us with the true spirit of Aloha with the full service including music and Hula. As we set sail in the early afternoon, we were pleasantly surprised to experience very smooth sailing for our tour. March is the height of whale watching season here in Maui. There are so many incredible humpback whales everywhere you look. The mothers come to have their babies and story up energy for the summer months in the Pacific Northwest. We all kept our eyes peeled and eventually one beauty popped her head up not far from us! The whales weren’t the only impressive entertainment on the trip. Manu Te A Nui performed some awesome Hula. Overall, the day was a typically epic day on the Maui waters!
Tim and Doraine had planned their 20th anniversary trip to Maui together. They were staying on the west side of the Island in Kaanapali. The Hyatt was a perfect location for such an important mark in their relationship and lives. What they didn’t plan together however was this Surprise Vow Renewal in Maui! Tim worked in secret for months with the Hyatt Wedding team and Tad Craig Photography to put together a dream ceremony. Tim even secretly flew out Doraine’s daughter to help pick out a dress and hold the bouquet! It was such a special intimate ceremony at an epic location. And as always the sunset did not disappoint.
My first conversation with Toren was about the surprise proposal he was planning for his girlfriend at the Fourseason Resort on Wailea Beach, Maui. He was so excited & (nervous) and wanted everything to go perfectly. They were on a trip from their home town of Anchorage and Kristin wanted two things, to be warm and to have One Romantic evening out. The Four Seasons Resort helped make every detail happen flawlessly. Toren wanted to plan a special sunset dinner overlooking the incredible Wailea Beach.
We planned it so that I would take some initial photos, paparazzi style, from far away. After the first course of dinner, Toren and Kristin’s server, Lacy introduced me as the ‘house photographer’ and we went down to the beach for some sweet shots with toes in the sand. The entire time, Kristin was so amazed at all the trouble Toren had gone through to make this evening special. They had a great time playing with the waves and we got some really intimate and great shots. This couple was so fun, their love and appreciation for each other really showed through.
As we walked back up from the beach to the dinner table, Toren turned to Kristin and dropped to one knee. You can see in the shots I captured, she said yes! She was so happy, shouting for joy and jumping up and down. We were able to get some great sunset photos, with the glowing bride to be and the gorgeous ring. We also had to get the “snow sand man” picture to send back home to Alaska!
As they got back to the table, the candles were lit and the romance continued….
Congrats to a wonderful couple!
Many Mahalos to Kayla of the Four Seasons Resort & Spa for coordinating this perfectly planned event. Also to Country Bouquet for the gorgeous flowers on their table! Oh, lets not forget Lacy for taking such good care of them, & Mother Nature for such a Gorgeous place! #perfectsurprise #romatic #maui #mauisunsets #mauiweddingphotographer #mauiengagementphotographer #engagement #surpriseengagement #wailea #fsfoto #fourseasons #FourSeasonsMaui #fourseasonsmauiresortandspa #ultimateromancedinner #fsmaui #countrybouqetmaui_
This winter, Maui has been experiencing some of the most extreme weather in years! This has made for some interesting wedding stories and some spectacular photos! This was one of those extreme days. It was a day for waves and a wedding at Wailea Beach. Despite challenging weather, you can see that the bride and groom were just a happy couple, excited to be in Maui and to be in Love.
A giant storm brewing in the Pacific sent us some epic swells! The beaches washed out and the waves crashed loud and strong against the shoreline. The surfers were loving it and so was this couple. This crazy weather made for some dramatic and beautiful shots. It was an evening of contrasts as this peaceful and bright couple stood on the rocks with a dark and looming background. All they could do was laugh as the waves crashed at their feet.
Big Congrats to Jennie and Andrew!
Many Mahalos to Marni of Maui Angels for coordinating this sweet elopement! Also shout to Tino Rosete for his perfect words & Sunya Flowers for the SPECTACULAR bouquet!
Joy and Jay had one Very Important thing to do while they vacationed on the beautiful island of Maui . They wanted to celebrate thirty three years of married life! Having shot in this West Side spot before, I knew it was going to be protected from the wind and that it would give a magical feeling. Sure enough it was an incredible place for a Maui jungle vow renewal celebration. Leah of Island Wedding Memories coordinated this special event and Maui Elegance Floral Design, designed the bouquet for the bride as well as the flower circle for the ceremony. Adam Gomez led the couple through the renewal with some perfect words! Serenaded by Marvin with his Ukulele, the sweet sounds echoed through the pristine jungle. Both Joy & Jay were a little overwhelmed by the location & how perfect this special moment had turned out. Frankly I was pretty amazed myself as it was just beautiful. It was an experience for all of the senses! It not only looked magical, but sounded, smelled and felt amazing!
After the ceremony, we headed up to the Honolua Bay outlook for romantic sunset photos. Taking in the peaceful wonder of Maui Joy and Jay sunk into their happiness right alongside the sinking sun.
Congrats on this happy couple reaching 33 years as husband & wife! Here’s to ANOTHER Thirty Three Years plus another 33!
Thanks to Leah of Island Wedding Memories, her son Trevor, Adam Gomez for his terrific ceremony & Marvin for his sweet sounds.
Mike and Jeran were so excited to be in Hawaii for their wedding! They came all the way from Wyoming to have their perfect gay wedding weekend on the West Side of Maui. We started their amazing weekend with a pre wedding shoot starting at the Westin Resort and Spa Maui. They wanted to experience something unique and different and I knew just the places to take them! Driving north we ended up in in this amazing tropical forest, with gorgeous light peeking through the trees. We were all a little amazed at the beauty of that Maui moment. I think this came through in the photos very well. Continuing on, we stopped off at Pineapple Hill where again their jaws dropped when they saw the amazing trees. They laughed & joked the entire time making choosing images for this post very easy.. Later, we went down to the point at Napilli Bay. The weather was perfect and Mike and Jeran were having the time of their life, the perfect wedding weekend…
A few days later I arrived at The Westin Resort & Spa Maui greeted by the entire (exuberant) wedding party. It was so amazing to see this large group of people gathered together to celebrate these two. Everyone was just so happy to finally be able to celebrate Mike and Jeran’s wedding. They were so into photos that I was just snapping away, creating all sorts of memorable moments. Jeran even shared his happy dance with everyone, so glad I caught that one on camera! As the ceremony began with Lanai and Molokai is the distance, it was so inspiring that these two were finally able to become one officially and legally.
The entire evening was filled with love, happiness and a crazy amount of JOY! Thanks to much for including me in your wedding plans & enjoy the images!
Congratulations Jeran & Mike!
Many Mahalos to all these FINE vendors that made this happen; Sarah & Kuuipo, wedding planners from the Westin Resort & Spa Maui, Fred Torres Asa Florals, Barefoot Minded, KCK Entertainment, & Heavenly White Doves Hawaiian Style Rentals
Mike and Jeran were so excited to be in Hawaii for their wedding! They came all the way from Wyoming to have their perfect gay wedding weekend on the West Side of Maui.
We arrived at this remote beach to find virtually empty. Holly was just a bit nervous until she peaked around that corner and saw Jayson standing there on the beach, waiting for her. Earnest Puau was officiating and really brought strength and peace to this intimate ceremony. I felt so lucky to be a part of this special moment in their lives, beautiful bride, beautiful beach, beautiful love. After the ceremony, Jayson picked Holly up and spun her around. This was the perfect small wedding at ironwoods beach.
Congrats to Holly and Jayson!
Thank you to all vendors that made this wedding so special for them.

A simple ceremony, Amazing photos. Jessica and Erik knew two things when they called wedding planner Leah Robb at Island Wedding Memories, they wanted a simple beach ceremony and amazing photos. They had been engaged for 3 years and were feeling the pressure from family and friends to finally officially “tie the knot”.
In fact, they hadn’t even planned to have a destination wedding when they booked their tickets to Maui. Initially, it was just supposed to be a nice Thanksgiving getaway.
A few months before their trip, Erik and Jessica started to joke about making it official on a secluded beach in Maui. And about a month before, the joking starting turning into planning… “secret planning”.
Jessica called Leah at Island Wedding Memories without even a date picked out! She only knew that she wanted a simple beach ceremony and amazing photos. Leah sent over Tad’s portfolio and Jessica knew she would get just what she wanted with Tad. They had a beautiful tiny ceremony on Mokapu Beach, Wailea. With just them, their officiant and Tad, Jessica and Erik were really able to let their personalities out during their wedding and photo session. Turns out they have a pretty great sense of humor (which really shows in some of their photos!) and had a blast with Tad. These two got a serious gift of good weather for their wedding photo shoot! The sunset light up the sky, creating incredible opportunity for backlit silhouette shots with perfect details.
With photos being the highlight of Jessica and Erik’s wedding, they were sure to book a “Trash The Dress” photo shoot the next morning! Jessica was really able to get comfortable with Tad during this shoot and it really shows through in the photos. Trash the Dress shoots are becoming more and more popular and when you see this incredible Maui landscape, it’s easy to understand why! Beautiful bride, beautiful sea, beautiful images!
The best part of the whole experience for Jessica and Erik was getting to surprise their families with amazing photos of their secret wedding! It was all about them on this trip and now they will have the perfect photos to keep those memories close…
They got what they wished for…A simple ceremony, Amazing photos.
Congratulations to the both of you!
From The Tad Craig Photography Team!

This is a little story from the bride. I though I should change it and make it at the third person but she is just the sweetest happiest bride and I have to decided to share her story and her own words. Of course, English is not her first language but she picks some words that are simply adorable to share her love story.
Here is her love story. Enjoy!
We are from freezy Moscow, Russia and that’s where we met 5 years ago. It took a while to understand that we were created for each other so we started living together only 4 years later!!)) Moscow is a one of the greatest cities in the world, we love it so much!! However, we also love traveling from time to time,we’ve been to many places together, like Mauritius, Hong Kong, Philippines, Dubai, California, India but Hawaii was always our dream!! So when Nikita proposed me to be his wife (it was in Moscow in one if the world’s greatest rooftop bars at my 25th B-Day), we were already planning to go there. So a brilliant idea came to our mind, why not combine the vacation of our dreams with the the most important event in our lives! Marriages conducted in the USA are considered legal in Russia,so the decision was taken. We both wanted an intimate wedding for two of us, and our families and friends were totally fine with it (we had a small party before we left to Hawaii and are planning to have another one when we’re back). However, we also wanted the wedding to be stylish and well-organized. We chose Leah Robb from Island Wedding Memories as our wedding coordinator and she helped us with choosing the best vendors on Maui! We chose Leah because we loved her website so much,no one has as many FAQs like her and we found the answers to most of our questions before we contacted her for the first time! MeiliAutumnBeauty was responsible for my look- and I was totally happy with it, it was very very natural, like I wanted, and had a little bit of Polynesian in it (Nikita said “you look like a local!!” when he saw me). As for the dress,I chose an ivory J Crew Ursula, I think it is a perfect dress for the beach wedding- looks very light, elegant and it feels very comfortable in it! Most of all I liked the ropes it was fixed by. Nikita’s outfit was also great I think it was a classical yacht-style look! My bridal bouquet and a hair flower was made by Maui Elegance Floral Design-I chose local flowers – I think it is the best choice for an island wedding. Our Minister was Roland Nono, and we are so much thankful that he was the one who conducted our wedding. We chose Hawaiian non-religious ceremony (we’re not much into religion, and we wanted it to be local style). When he was conducting the ceremony,we felt like something magical and surreal was going one. We also had Kalani Miles as our musician- we chose modern music with local twist to accompany the wedding- and we are very happy with what he did, especially when he let us take pictures with his guitar, made of unique Hawaiian wood. And of course the memories are the most important part for us, so that’s where it comes to photography. When our coordinator told us it’s gonna be Tad Craig, we knew we had nothing to worry about since he had great experience and his portfolio is impressive. It all went very smoothly, and although our event was short, just 1 hour,it was pretty enough for Tad to capture all the great moments of our day! We are very happy with what we saw on the camera screen on-site and can’t wait to see the pictures!) in general, our wedding was very cute, family-style event! It was on Mokapu beach, which is great (thanks to Leah who suggested this location),there were few people there, and those who were – congratulated us – that was so nice). We chose a sunset wedding – it is almost impossible for me to get up in the morning. After the ceremony we went to Humuhumunukunukuapua’a Restaurant at The Grand Wailea Hotel in Wailea- that was delicious, so highly recommended for the newly-weds! Now,after the wedding, our real vacation has started,we’re enjoying the honeymoon in Hawaii (however, still having jet lag- we have 14 hours time difference with Moscow!!, but it’s not bad when it comes to such romantic stuff, like our sunrise experience at Haleakala Crater). We will advise to all our Russian friends to get married at Hawaii! Ksenia
Their Maui Wedding was everything they imagined & more!
Set up on a blind date by friends is how Annie and Richard met!
Instantly hitting it off lead to another date and another date & a year later lead to Richard proposing on Thanksgiving night in front of 50 cheering friends and family! Now they have traveled all the way to Maui to say their nuptials in front of about 80 friends & family! Annie looked exceptionally beautiful in her flowing dress & flower haku adorned on her head.
As we talked & walked across the hotel I could sense the anticipation Annie was feeling. With Richard standing on the floating bridge, the moment of the “First Look” was here. She playfully bounced the bridge & when he turned you could see their love and excitement! Beautiful! The ceremony site had gorgeous flowers all around with a truly magical arch by Asa Flowers & of course the background was stunning.
Holding hands, looking into each other eyes they whispered their vows! Was just about perfect! With sunset fast approaching, we made our way to the ocean & were treated to another spectacular sunset. They both were loving the moment wearing smiles as wide as their heads! LOVE THAT! The reception was just a stones throw from the sunset & again were treated to mother nature putting on a show. My assistant and second photographer, Marie-Claude Adams, shot that pic with all the purples & pinks in the sky! Gorgeous! Congratulations to Annie & Richard & their saying vows to each other!
